Machame Gate to Machame Campsite
Begin your Kilimanjaro trek at Machame Gate, where you’ll meet your team and start your climb through vibrant montane rainforest. Enjoy the sights and sounds of wildlife as you make your way up. After several hours of hiking, arrive at Machame Campsite, where you can relax, enjoy a hot meal, and rest for the night under the open sky.

Machame Campsite to Shira Campsite
Today you’ll hike through open moorland, crossing valleys and ridges to reach Shira Camp. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Meru, the Shira Plateau, and Kibo Peak. As you climb higher, the air cools and the landscape changes to unique high-altitude plants. Shira Camp is a peaceful spot to rest and take in the breathtaking scenery.

Shira Campsite to Barranco Campsite via Lava Tower
Ascend to Lava Tower for acclimatisation, then descend to Barranco Camp at the base of the Barranco Wall. Enjoy stunning views of the volcanic landscape and catch your breath before the challenging climb ahead. Barranco Camp offers a peaceful setting surrounded by towering cliffs.

Barranco to Karanga Camp
Ascend the Barranco Wall to 4200m for acclimatisation, then trek through ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp for a hot lunch. After a rest, take a brief acclimatisation hike toward the southern ice field before returning to camp for soup and overnight.

Karanga to Barafu Hut
