The 7-Day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Climb offers a scenic and gradual ascent, enhancing acclimatisation and summit success. With stunning views and diverse landscapes, it’s an unforgettable trek to Africa’s highest peak.

Itinerary

Day 1: Moshi to Londorosi Gate to Big Tree Campsite

  • Elevation: 1,200m to 1,950m to 2,850m
  • Distance: 9 km
  • Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
  • Habitat: Montane Forest
  • You’ll be picked up from your hotel and drive to Londorosi Gate for registration. From there, you’ll head to Lemosho Glade and begin trekking through lush montane forest. Camp at Big Tree Campsite for your first overnight on the mountain.



    Day 2: Big Tree Campsite to Shira One Campsite

    • Elevation: 2,850m to 3,500m
    • Distance: 13 km
    • Hiking Time: 8 hours
    • Habitat: Moorland & Heather

    Today’s trek takes you through the Shira caldera, gaining altitude as you explore the high-altitude desert. The route offers beautiful views and provides an opportunity for acclimatisation. Camp at Shira One Campsite for dinner and rest.



    Day 3: Shira One to Shira Two Campsite

  • Elevation: 3,500m to 3,800m
  • Distance: 7 km
  • Hiking Time: 5-6 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland & Rocky
  • Today, you’ll trek across the Shira Plateau to Cathedral Peak for panoramic views of Mt. Meru and Kibo Peak. Afterward, you’ll continue to Shira Two Campsite. You’ll spend the night here, enjoying a well-deserved rest.



    Day 4: Shira Two to Barranco Campsite

  • Elevation: 3,800m to 3,950m
  • Distance: 13 km
  • Hiking Time: 7-8 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland
  • This long day is dedicated to acclimatisation as you hike toward Lava Tower. After a rest, you’ll descend into the Barranco Valley. Continue to Barranco Campsite for an overnight stay, preparing for the next stage of the climb.



    Day 5: Barranco to Barafu Campsite via Karanga

  • Elevation: 3,950m to 3,900m to 4,620m
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland
  • Start your day by climbing the Barranco Wall, gaining altitude to 4,200m. Afterward, trek through ridges and valleys to Karanga for lunch, then continue to Barafu Campsite. Rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the summit push.



     Day 6: Barafu Hut to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Hut

  • Elevation: 4,620m to 5,895m to 3,100m
  • Distance: 15 km
  • Hiking Time: 10-12 hours
  • Habitat: Desert & Ice
  • Start your ascent at midnight to reach the summit by sunrise. After reaching Uhuru Peak, you’ll descend to Barafu Hut for rest, then continue to Mweka Hut. You’ll enjoy a well-earned dinner and a peaceful night at Mweka Hut.



    Day 7: Mweka Hut to Mweka Gate

  • Elevation: 3,100m to 1,700m
  • Distance: 9 km
  • Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
  • Habitat: Montane Forest
  • On the final day from 7-Day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Climb, descend through the Montane Forest. It takes 3-4 hours to reach Mweka Gate, where you’ll sign out and receive your summit certificate. Celebrate your achievement before heading back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

    Visa
    To enter Tanzania, most traveler's require a tourist or business visa. You can apply for an e-visa online or obtain a visa on arrival at designated entry points. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date and has one blank page. Apply through the official Tanzania Immigration website for an e-visa or obtain a visa on arrival at major entry points.


    Yellow Fever
    Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for travelers arriving from Countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission. This also applies to those who have transited through such countries for 12 hours or more. Upon arrival, you must present a valid vaccination certificate.



    Zanzibar Insurance Policy
    As of October 1, 2024, Zanzibar requires all visitors (excluding residents) to obtain mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) for the duration of their stay, up to 92 days.
