Tour Overview

This fascinating cycling tour takes you from the colorful, bustling Arusha national park to nearby picturesque villages, through forest trails and along tiny farmland paths. You’ll get an authentic flavor of this little typically-Tanzanian community nestling in the green and fertile foothills of Kilimanjaro, through first-hand experience of town and agricultural life and of its colonial history.

DAY 1; Biking in Arusha National Park (full day)

You will enjoy a short game drive through the park en-route to Ngorodoto Crater from where you will start your ride. The ride mainly goes round the rim of the Crater with stunning views into the Crater. A ranger will accompany the ride since it is possible to encounter buffalo. Other animals likely to be seen are Colobus Monkeys, giraffes and various birds’ species. The ride is partly on a gravel track and partly on a small animal’s track that can allow for some muddy riding. There are steep up and steep down parts during this ride.

DAY 2: Drive from Arusha Park to Olpopongi Maasai village

Start early in the morning ride from Arusha park to Enduimet Wildlife Management Area which is one of Tanzania’s best kept secrets. Enduimet borders Amboseli National Park and serves as an important migratory route for wildlife including the African elephants and other animals. This area is inhabited primarily by the Maasai people but there are large populations of other tribes such as the Chagga, Meru and Pare people. Your ride starts off on the wide open plains dotted with acacia trees but it gets greener as you approach the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro where a lot of cultivation takes place. You’re cycling tour today ends at this village where you will overnight on Maasai homesteads and overlooking the west Kilimanjaro plains.

DAY 3: Olpopongi to Chemka hot spring

After Breakfast start cycling by traversing the villages and plantations on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The first half of the ride will be comprised of several steep ascents and descents. You will cycle through the suburbs and outskirts of Kilimanjaro on the back roads as you head towards Rundugai village, which marks the end of your incredible 2-day journey around West Kilimanjaro, on two wheels. Get ready to relax and rejuvenate your body with these smoothing and tranquil hot springs. It's the perfect spot after a long ride so get ready to jump on this amazing pool.
